The fees for filing trademark applications in the United States Patent and Trademark Office will go up on January 2, 2021, so if you’re considering filing a new application, or a declaration of use for an existing registration (due between the 5th and 6th year after registration), now is the time!
The fee for filing a mark in one class will go from $275 to $350 ($225 to $250 for certain simple applications). And the fee for filing a declaration of use will increase from $125 per class to $225 per class.
If you are considering filing an adversarial proceeding such as an opposition or cancellation against someone’s mark, the fees will go from $400 for each class to $600 per class. In addition, the amounts for seeking extensions of time to oppose will be doubled.
