James Leahy

Attorney

A Miami IP litigator, James Leahy represents ADD+G clients out of the firm’s Miami office. James has experience tackling complex, intellectual property matters for clients in arbitration, state court, and federal court. In addition, beyond IP litigation, he also assists in negotiating and drafting intellectual property agreements.

A Florida native, James graduated from William & Mary Law School, the oldest law school in the U.S., with a concentration in Intellectual Property. While there, James was an Articles Editor for the Bill of Rights Journal – the third most-cited student-edited constitutional law journal – and a Research Fellow for the Center for Legal & Court Technology. James’ research at the Center for Legal & Court Technology focused on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and existing legal doctrines, with special focus on patent and copyright law, and data privacy as a field, including data privacy compliance under the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation. James also served as the Treasurer for the Student Intellectual Property Society, Secretary of the Agricultural Law Society, was involved in organizing golf-based fundraising for the Public Service Fund, and volunteered at Habitat for Humanity – in addition to clerking for ADD+G.

For undergraduate studies, James attended the University of Chicago, graduating with a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a B.A. in English Language & Literature. James was recognized on the Dean’s List throughout his undergraduate studies, while also playing on the varsity football team. Prior to attending University of Chicago, James graduated from Pine Crest School and earned the rank of Eagle Scout, Bronze Palm.
